There really was not much left. The workmen that removed the burnt home built a WC while they were there, and had left it. So that and a surviving garden chair was now her home. She should have cried, but she had managed to gain a great sense of humour while in orphanages (if you don't laugh you'll cry, right?)
The views where amazing though, no wonder her parents has used all their savings to live here.
With a beautiful lake opposite her new home, she decided to fish for tea.
Then she remembered she had nothing to cook them on anyway, and took a trip into town looking for a job. Her father had been a police man, and she had wished since little to follow his footsteps, so took her self off to the police station in search for work. Being so young and untrained, the police feeling sorry for her gave her the only job they could, a snitch. She called her boss straight away to introduce herself. Luckily the boss didn't mind being called on a Sunday, and was very friendly, telling Maria all about the new baby she was about to have.
Her new boss also told her she now had free membership to the local gym for work, which she happened to mention had hot showers and stocked fridge and juice bar for snacks.
So swinging past the library for a look around and a chat, she made her way to the gym. She helped herself to come tinned soup and a hot shower, before making her way 'home'.
She didn't sleep well that night, but the sunrise she woke to made it all ok. The first day to the rest of her life began today. After brushing her teeth in the workmans WC she made her way to work.
Work was hard.
So she had a nap at the gym, she noted before dozing that she was not the only person using the gym for things other than training.
Her boss had told her to get some logic skills, and if a better job comes up she might be able to get it for Maria. So she library was her next stop. But it was all she could do, to keep her eyes open.
This was getting silly.
So after another days work, with her two pay cheques, she ripped down the WC selling every little bit of scrap she could, and put up a shed. Inside she put a much needed bed, and hoped the neighbors wouldn't see her coming and going at night. She didn't want to make a spectacle of herself in such a location.
That night she slept soundly. The goods night sleep must have showed too, as her boss Justina, managed to find her a job promotion inside. It was just making tea, and stapling paper together, but it was a step up, to be proud of.
So that evening she took herself off to the park for some relax time. Where she met Leighton
The rest of the week was spent reading a book for work, and hanging out at the park.
Maria also managed to paint the inside of her shed.
But the best happened at the weekend. Maria invited the other dishy man she met at the park to see her 'land' (of course she didn't mention it was her home too.)
It's ok, she can handle it.
